Barbara Ann Malcolm
Age 88, of St. Clair, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024. She was born in Detroit on December 19, 1935 to the late Dr. Otto and Margaret Wendt.
Barb graduated from Marine City High School in 1953. On July 12, 1954 she married Capt. Keith Malcolm and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Keith preceded her in death on August 17, 2007.
Together with her husband they owned and operated Malcolm Marine in St. Clair for 37 years. The famous tugboat “Barbara Ann” was named after her. They took great pride in raising their 4 children and having a successful business together.
Barb enjoyed reading in her limited spare time and also was a Cub Scout Den Leader for her sons. She was a former member of the Quota Club in Port Huron.
Barb also enjoyed the simple things in life such as having Tim Horton’s and watching boats travel under the Blue Water Bridge. She especially liked cruising the St. Clair River with Keith on their 55 ft. Chris Craft. Barb was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.
Barb is survived by her children; Capt. David K. (Claudia) Malcolm, Donald (Jane) Malcolm, Deborah (John Stevens) Malcolm and Diane (Capt. Robert) Hasler.
She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren; Keith (Jessi) Malcolm, Kevin Malcolm, Kyle (Katherine) Malcolm, Jennifer (Brian) Houck, Holly (Eric) Rexford, Nicholas (Nicole) Hunt, Tracie (Steve) Oster and Dylan (Emily) Hasler, along with 13 great-grandchildren and brother; Richard Wendt.
She was preceded in death by her daughter in-law, Sandra Malcolm.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rayanne, Candy and her other caregivers at Sandalwood Creek Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20th at 12:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to noon, prior to the service. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the City of St. Clair Fireworks Fund.
